Tools and Rigs

In this section I’ve put togheter a collection of simple scripts and utilities that I find very useful on a daily basis at work.
Whether you’re working in production, as freelance or just as a hobby, feel free to download, use and modify it as you see fit.

MEL scripts

wp RenameScript for renaming/replacing names, adding prefix, suffix etc. I’ve integrated the hashRename tool (by Jason Schleifer) and the rename tool (by Michael Comet) in my interface as well.
wp Stretchy IkScript to create a node based stretchy ik chain.
wp IsolationScript to isolate part of a joint chain. It’s usefull for example to isolate the neck, hand or head setup from the rest of the rig. This give the animators the ability to limit counter-animation.
wp Joints on CurvesScript to create joints or joint chains on the selected curves.
wp Set AttributesScript to lock/unlock transform attributes in the channel box for selected objects.
wp Circle ControlsScript to create a circle control (with specific radius and orientation) for selected joints.
wp Freeze With GroupScript for freezing transforms on a node by creating a parent group on top of it.
wp Shape ParentScript for parenting a shape node with another transform node.
wp Hold InfluencesScript to hold/unhold all the skincluster influences on the selected object.
wp Scene InfoThis super simple script gives you information about the type and the amount of nodes present in the current scene.
wp Controls ColorWith a single click is possibile to change the wireframe color information for all the selected objects.

Python scripts

wp Skin WeightsThis scripts imports/exports vertex based weight data for a selected mesh.

PyMel scripts

SkinCluster InfoScript to obtain the skinCluster information for the selected objects.
